The good relationship between UFC president Dana White and the former champion Ronda Rousey Not only is it known to the public, it has also been a joke among fans for a long time. However, the leader had never commented on the matter publicly. Now, weeks after Rousey's knockout to Holly holm, Dana admitted to being one of the fighter's best friends and said it was particularly difficult to see her being defeated like that in the main fight of UFC 193.

“I and the more than 67 thousand people in the arena were in shock. I'm never shocked by someone losing, but it was the way she lost. That was shocking. I am responsible for promoting the fights and I put the two people in the octagon so they can determine what will happen, but in the history of this sport there are two (remarkable) people: Chuck Liddell and Ronda Rousey. I'm very close to these two. She is one of my best friends. So, seeing her lose like that was difficult,” said Dana, in an interview with the Canadian TV program “Off the Record with Michael Landsberg”.

Furthermore, the director revealed that he has been in daily contact with Ronda since losing the belt and ventured a guess as to the reasons that led to the blonde's defeat. “After the fight I spoke to her almost every day. And what she said just a few days ago is that she was exhausted going into that fight. Mentally, physically and emotionally too. There was a lot going on with her and her family,” he analyzed.

Dana still remembered the criticism made against him when it was announced that Holly holm would be Ronda's opponent, and praised the new champion of the 61 kg division. “I fought against Holly holm and everyone criticized it. She was a world boxing champion and undefeated in MMA, so it was the right fight to make. She was the best fighter available at that time to face Ronda Rousey"He assured.
