The public feud between Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather gained another chapter after the highest paid athlete in the world's recent “need” at the current UFC women's bantamweight champion.

Last month, the MMA fighter was announced as the cover of the January 2016 edition of the traditional magazine “The Ring”, which specializes in boxing. It was the first time in 93 years of publication that an athlete from another sport occupied such a position, which provoked different reactions from fans of the “noble art”.

Mayweather recognized Ronda's merits for achieving prominence, but reinforced that her presence on the cover of the traditional magazine puts boxing in a bad position. “Well, congratulations to her, but the sport starts to get a bad image when a female athlete, from another discipline, is on the cover of a boxing publication,” said Mayweather, in an interview with the “Fight Hype” website.

The January 2016 edition uses as its motto Ronda's statement in which she demonstrates her desire to, one day, try her luck in boxing and become world champion. “The Ring” is owned by Oscar de la Hoya’s company, which recently showed interest in participating in the promotion of Ronda’s boxing debut. The North American will defend her UFC belt this Sunday (15), in Australia, Saturday night in Brazil, when she faces the former boxer Holly holm.
