The aggravating factor was that Tate found out about the change of plans through the press, as the UFC did not send him any notice beforehand. “I understand they want to do the Rousey vs. Holly fight, but that doesn't change how they approached the situation. I think they did it this way because they didn't want the information to get out, but it also insults me. I have been fighting for a long time and I have already proven my character. I don't think the UFC did it maliciously, but I also think they didn't show me consideration. For them, it was just another day, but for me it was as if they had ruined my life. And they need to understand that”, said the fighter, in an interview on the website of the North American broadcaster “ESPN”.
According to the UFC, Holm was chosen because Tate had already lost twice to Rousey. If retrospect makes it impossible for her to fight for the title again, the fighter declared that she will rethink her future. “If it becomes clear that I won't be able to fight for the title at all when Ronda has the belt, then I don't know. I have to look at my options. I’m not saying I’m going to retire, but it’s something I have to think about,” she added.
