At the beginning of the month, the North American website “MMA Fighting” had stated that Indian kickboxer Singh Jaideep would be the opponent of Fedor Emelianenko upon his return to MMA in December. However, circumstances have changed and now Jaideep is considered the plan B of the Rizin organization, which will stage the fight.

According to the same “MMA Fighting”, Jaideep signed a contract for the fight on the last day of the year, but now his chances of actually fighting are between “5 and 10%”. This is because the Indian did not make a good impression in his most recent fight, against Brazilian Carlos Toyota, at the Deep event, despite winning by technical knockout.

Thus, Rizin continues to look for a new opponent for Emelianenko, who should be a name with great impact on Japanese soil. If the search is unsuccessful, Jaideep will be chosen to fight the Russian.

Rizin president Nobuyuki Sakakibara stated that the decision will be made soon. “We have a lot of names, but we will decide this in 10 days at the most. It will be difficult to choose, because we have to fulfill the expectations surrounding Fedor's fight. So, the opponent needs to have a good name to make the fight attractive,” he declared.
