The English middleweight Michael Bisping expressed his desire to face Anderson Silva since the times when the Brazilian was the owner of the UFC belt in the category. However, shortly after “Spider” finally showed his openness to the fight, Bisping backed down and stated that he no longer has the desire to face the Brazilian inside the Octagon.

In an interview with the website “MMA Junkie”, “O Conde”, as he is known, recalled the recent doping case involving Anderson and cited this as the main reason for no longer being interested in fighting the now former champion.
“You know, to be honest, I always wanted to fight Anderson Silva. Everyone knows this, it has already been very well recorded. But I don't know if I still think that way now. The thing is, I recently said to myself, 'I don't want to mess with anyone who has tested positive for performance-enhancing substances.' Anderson was spotted at age 39, and I don't think he started using it at age 39. He must have been doped the entire time. I've never used any of these, so I don't see why I should fight someone who has used these products”, explained the English fighter, who is recovering from recent elbow surgery.
In January, Anderson was caught using anabolic steroids and anxiolytics in his fight against Nick Diaz, at UFC 183. As a result, “Spider” was suspended from activity until February of next year. Recently, the Brazilian revealed that he is already planning his return fight, which would be in Curitiba, against Bisping.
