During his last training sessions to prepare for his fight at the UFC in São Paulo, at the beginning of next month, Vitor belfort received an illustrious visit. United States presidential candidate Ben Carson was at OTB Fight Gym, the Brazilian's gym in Coconut Creek, in the US state of Florida.

Carson, who is seeking the Republican Party's nomination for the 2016 elections, exchanged experiences and prayed with the Brazilian fighter, including putting on boxing gloves for photos with Belfort. The Rio native expressed all his support for Carson's candidacy and stated that, despite being a foreigner, he will be able to vote for his new friend in the next elections.
The two did not speak in detail about the topics they discussed, but Carson, a former pediatric neurosurgeon, said that Belfort's trajectory inside and outside the ring serves as an inspiration to him. “I'm very happy because he's been through difficult times, but he has the mentality of a champion. This is what we need,” he declared.
Belfort will return to the octagon on November 7th, in São Paulo, when he faces Dan Henderson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 77.
