With less than three days to go, UFC Fight Night 76 suffered a serious blow. Main star of the attraction, Joseph Duffy was cut from the event for medical reasons and will no longer participate Dustin poirier the main fight of the night, this Saturday (24).

In a statement issued to the press, the UFC stated that Duffy suffered a hard blow to the head during training, and that, as a result, he cannot be released to fight. Thus, the new main fight of the event will be between flyweights Paddy Holohan and Louis Smolka, which will last three rounds.

“After we learned that Duffy received a blow to the head during training earlier this week, the UFC asked him to undergo medical testing as a precaution in Ireland. The result indicated that Duffy suffered a slight concussion, but, due to the proximity of the fight, the UFC will not allow him to participate in the competition. The health and safety of athletes will continue to be the organization’s top priority,” the UFC explained. “Duffy's opponent, Dustin poirier, there will be another fight scheduled for another event. Fans who want a refund due to the changes will be able to do so at points of purchase,” he continued.

UFC Fight Night 76 had already suffered a blow last week, when the second most important fight of the event, between Stipe Miocic and Ben Rothwell, had been cut due to an injury to the first heavyweight.
