Twice Alexander Gustafson came close to winning the UFC light heavyweight belt. In 2013, he had a pair fight with the then champion, Jon Jones, but ended up defeated in the judges' decision; already at the beginning of this month, he faced Daniel Cormier and again bothered the champion, but once again it ended in “almost”. However, the Swede refuses to give up.

Gustafsson, who recently considered retiring after suffering a defeat in the Octagon, this time stated that he sees himself committed to the sport for several years. “I will continue as long as I know I have the potential to be the best. If the day comes when I feel like I can't go any further, I'll stop. But there is much more to achieve. I know I can improve. I know I have the potential to beat 'DC', I know I can beat Jon Jones”, said the fighter, in an interview with the Swedish website “Allehanda”.

Gustafsson still doesn't know exactly when and how he will fight again, but he stated that he has already been talking to the UFC about it. “Let’s see what the future will be like. I spoke to Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta and they told me they have 'big plans' for me. Let's see what they have to offer me. I'm 28 years old and I see myself involved with this sport for a few more years”, added the Swede.
