Director denies that UFC hid Belfort's doping in 2012

Dave Sholler said the accusations are "categorically false", but acknowledged that the time when the TRT was released was complicated in the organization

In recent days, the news that the UFC could have covered up a Brazilian doping case Vitor belfort before the fight against Jon Jones in 2012, after the leak of a test in which the Brazilian showed high levels of testosterone, it shook the world of MMA. Until now, no official source linked to the organization had spoken publicly, but it was up to vice president of marketing Dave Sholler, who led the press conference after UFC 192, to present the event's version of what happened and deny all the accusations.

“Any suggestion that we tried to 'cover it up' is categorically false. That time with TRT was complicated for everyone. That was banned in 2014 and we quickly adopted that. We signed with USADA (North American Anti-Doping Agency), one of the strictest anti-doping programs in the world. We will continue to act to prove that performance-enhancing drugs have no place in the UFC”, guaranteed Sholler.

The Testosterone Replacement Treatment (TRT) to which the leader referred has gained popularity in recent years and some of its main exponents include Vitor belfort, Dan Henderson e Antonio Pezão. After a series of controversies and discussions about the legality of the use of hormone replacement by high-performance athletes, the treatment was banned by the Nevada Athletic Commission in early 2014, a decision that was followed by other sports regulatory bodies immediately.
