The current UFC welterweight champion, Matt Serra, confirmed in an interview with the NBCSports website that he will face the interim champion, Georges St Pierre at UFC-83, in April, scheduled to be held in Canada, St. Pierre's home country.
Renzo Gracie's black belt is recovering from a herniated disc, which prevented him from fighting with Matt hugs at UFC 79, when he was replaced by St Pierre who, upon winning the fight, became interim champion.
This will be the second time that Serra and St. Pierre will face each other. In the first, during UFC 69, in April, the American beat the Canadian by technical knockout in the first round. The result, in fact, was considered by the UFC itself as the biggest upset of the year.
