The light heavyweight King mo, former Strikeforce champion and currently at Bellator, believes that MMA has not yet reached the necessary position to be considered a real sport, still occupying the role of entertainment attraction.

According to the fighter, this is exemplified by the fact that, in his opinion, the biggest star in the business is Dana White, a fight promoter, rather than an athlete. “Dana White is the biggest star, and that's the problem with MMA. Dana White is a smart guy. It turned into a brand. But for MMA to become a real sport, the biggest star must be a real fighter. It’s as simple as that”, commented Mo, according to the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

“MMA is entertainment, and people don't understand that. 'Ah, but it's a sport'… No, it's entertainment. You got it wrong. This is entertainment, we are here to entertain. It's still not a real sport. Much more needs to be done for this to become a real sport”, continued the athlete, who has a professional record of 15 wins, four losses and one no-contest.

King mo, nickname for Muhammed Lawal, will fight again this weekend at Bellator Dynamite. He will face Linton Vassell in the first round of a mini-GP that will be held on the same night, with the winner of the fight taking or Phil Davis, or Emanuel Newton.
