In the podcast he hosts, “You're Welcome!”, Sonnen spoke with Frank mir, your attraction guest. That's when he commented that behind the scenes there is a strong rumor that a fight between two of the greatest fighters in MMA history could take place in 2016.
“You may have already heard this rumor, but if you haven't, then I'll tell you. I can confirm that they are trying to accomplish this. A fight at 93 kg would take place in the UFC with Fedor Emelianenko. Are you ready to listen? I would be against Anderson Silva”, commented the former fighter.
Ultimate, of course, disagreed and stated that they don't even have advanced negotiations with Emelianenko. “There is nothing to say. If there was, I would say so. The subject of Fedor has been a mystery for a long time. Of course we talked to them, but I don't know what their plans are,” said the organization's president, Dana White, according to the North American website “Sherdog”.
Emelianenko and Anderson are constant presences on any list of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. The Russian, who retired but announced his return to fighting, was a dominant heavyweight champion in PRIDE, defeating several prominent names. Anderson held the UFC middleweight belt between 2006 and 2013, holding the absolute record for the number of title defenses. The Brazilian, however, is suspended until January next year due to a doping case.
