The report cites “sources close to the situation”, who also revealed to the outlet that Fedor could be on the UFC 193 card in November. According to the text, if the Russian actually participates in the event, which will be held in the city of Melbourne, Australia, his opponent could be Mark Hunt. The New Zealander already has a fight scheduled for the attraction, against Antonio Pezão, but the UFC could change plans if that is their wish.

When contacted by the North American website “MMA Fighting”, the fighter's manager, Vadim Finkelchtein, denied the information. According to him, Fedor is still in talks with several organizations, but a formal contract has not yet been signed.

Fedor has been the UFC's object of desire since the end of PRIDE in 2007. Since then, Ultimate has tried to sign the Russian on several occasions, widely considered the greatest heavyweight fighter of all time. However, the negotiations were never successful. In 2015, Emelianenko announced that he would return to fighting after a three-year retirement.
