For him, the title that McGregor holds has no real value, as it was a marketing maneuver to maintain Ultimate's interest in the 189th event, in July.

On that occasion, McGregor would challenge Aldo for the 66 kg category title. However, at the last minute, the Brazilian was injured and was unable to participate in the event. Chad Mendes he was called at the last minute, and the fight was for the interim belt.

“Let's face it, McGregor has an illegitimate belt. It's an invented belt. We say he's interim, but Aldo defended his title less than a year ago. But, because of the marketing, all the buzz and the gigantic event, they decided to make the fight [McGregor x Mendes] for the interim belt. Now he has a title”, analyzed Rogan in the podcast he hosts, “Joe Rogan Experience”.

“Belts are useless. It's the best fighters against the best fighters. We all know who the best fighters are, right? When you beat the best guy, then you become the best guy”, added the commentator.

Now, Aldo and McGregor will face each other at UFC 194, in December, to unify the featherweight belt. The fight will take place in Las Vegas, in the United States.
