Mir praises the heavyweights: 'The level has never been as high as it is now'

For many years, the heavyweight division was criticized by fans for having, in general, a lower technical level compared to other weight categories. However, Frank mir considers that the division's current moment is the best it has ever been, since, according to him, there are more athletes with great potential in the weight class.

Mir knows the UFC heavyweight division like few others, as he has competed in it since 2001. For him, the category has never been as good as it is now. “I think this current era is the best that has ever existed. In the past we always had top guys, but I think that decreased after fourth or fifth place. Now, there are guys in 12th, 13th, 13th who are great fighters at heavyweight,” he said, in an interview with the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.

The current UFC heavyweight champion is Brazilian Fabricio Werdum. Mir, ranked tenth in the official rankings, will return to the octagon on September 5th, at UFC 191, when he will face fellow veteran Andrei Arlovski, the fourth.
