It may still be a while before MMA fans see it again Mauritius Shogun in action. According to the “UFC Tonight” program, broadcast by the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”, the former light heavyweight champion will soon undergo shoulder surgery and has no plans to return to the octagon.
The program did not give details of when the fighter injured his shoulder, only specifying that it was on the right side. Shogun comes from a recent victory over Rogério Minotouro, obtained in the judges' decision at UFC 190, at the beginning of the month, in Rio de Janeiro.
At 33 years old, Shogun was light heavyweight champion between 2010 and 2011, when he ended up dethroned by Jon Jones. Throughout his career, the Curitiba native was hampered by injuries, including a series of knee surgeries. His professional MMA record is 23 wins and ten losses.
