Miesha Tate had been confirmed as a challenger for the belt even though she had already lost twice to Rousey. However, White, in an interview with the American newspaper “Los Angeles Times”, said he reconsidered the situation and decided to give Holm a chance.

“We talked about Miesha's chance [to fight for the belt] from the beginning, but we started to reflect and came to the conclusion that everyone has already seen [Ronda's] fight with Miesha. A third fight in a rivalry usually appears when things like what we saw with Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward happen,” said the president, referring to the rivalry between the boxers between 2002 and 2003, when they faced each other for the third time after a victory for each. “With Miesha, the result was the same twice. Everyone has seen that fight.”

Even if Holm reaches the title shot Without a major victory on her MMA resume, White considers that the challenger could provide a complicated fight for the champion, as she has the world boxing title in her past. “When we talk about what Holly can do… She’s a world-class boxer. For Ronda, fighting with Holly holm It’s much more intriguing,” he commented.
