His return to the ring at the age of 39, with a knockout victory over Argentine Mateo “El Chino” Veron, seems to have done the former Brazilian champion Acelino Popó a lot of good. Shortly after his triumph, Popó took to social media and launched an ambitious challenge to multi-time Filipino champion Manny Pacquiao, who recently staged the most lucrative fight in boxing history against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
“Pacquiao, why don’t you come back in 2016 fighting me? The challenge can be anywhere you want”, published the Brazilian on his official profile on Twitter, in three consecutive messages.
With the triumph last Saturday (15) in Santos (SP), Popó reached 40 victories in his professional career, 34 of them by knockout or technical knockout. Furthermore, the former WBA and WBO champion also has two defeats. Manny Pacquiao, 36 years old, has a record of 57 wins, six losses and two draws.
