There are no extraordinary fights on the schedule for UFC Fight Night 73, an event that will take place this Saturday (8). However, some fights on the schedule will play an important role in the development of categories, which could elevate new names to a prominent position.
Starting with the main fight of the night, between Glover Teixeira e Ovince St Preux. Respectively fourth and sixth in the light heavyweight division, the athletes will have very particular objectives during the fight.

In a period of one year, Teixeira went “from heaven to hell”. In 2014, boasting an unbeaten record of almost ten years in professional MMA, the Minas Gerais native competed for the category belt, against the then champion, Jon Jones. However, he couldn't resist the North American's versatile game and ended up defeated in the decision.
Then faced Phil Davis at UFC 179, in Rio de Janeiro. Apathetic, Glover offered little resistance to the American's strategy, who dominated the three rounds to also get the better of the points.
Thus, Teixeira will try with all his might to avoid a third consecutive defeat against St. Preux. To this end, the fighter himself revealed that he started to take more care of his physical part, avoiding periods of major weight cuts before fights.
If Teixeira will try to stop a sequence of bad results, St. Preux fights with a clear objective: to reinforce his rise in the 93 kg division. The fighter comes from two consecutive victories in the octagon, with two knockouts over Mauritius Shogun and Patrick Cummins.
If he triumphs against a former title challenger, St. Preux will position himself once and for all “at the top” of the light heavyweight division. But the key factor for the fight will be how the American of Haitian origin will impose his game against Teixeira's fair boxing.
Event will feature lightweight duel
In the second most important fight of UFC FN 73, a duel between two rising lightweights. Fifth place in the official ranking, Michael Johnson will try to maintain a prominent position against Beneil Dariush, the 12th.
More than that, the fight will represent a duel between two major MMA schools today. Johnson is an athlete at Blackzilians, a gym where names like Vitor belfort e Rashad evans, while Dariush is under the care of Rafael Cordeiro, coach of the champions Rafael dos Anjos e Fabricio Werdum.
Another fight to watch is the only women's duel of the night. Amanda nunes will try to “get back into gear” in the UFC against the former challenger for the weight belt, Sara McMann.
At the beginning of her career in Ultimate, the Brazilian had two victories in a row, against Sheila Gaff and Germain de Randamie. However, last year, it lost to Zingano cat, who ended up qualifying to fight for the title. The first step towards Amanda's recovery was taken in March this year, in Rio de Janeiro, when she beat Shayna Baszler without any major difficulties.
However, Olympic medalist wrestler McMann is also looking to get back on track with success. She had been undefeated in her professional career until February last year, when she ended up losing to Ronda Rousey. After that, he had a narrow victory against Lauren Murphy and suffered another defeat against Miesha Tate. Confident in being the woman to dethrone the champion, she needs a victory in this fight more than ever.
