The UFC fighter Brendan Schaub made a controversial statement on the podcast he hosts, “The Fighter and The Kid”. The North American insinuated that Brazilian fighters from the largest MMA organization on the planet are showing bad results precisely because anti-doping control has become stricter for the second half of 2015.

The UFC recently announced a partnership with USADA, the North American anti-doping agency. In the second semester, all fighters under contract with the company would be tested randomly, regardless of whether a fight was scheduled or not.

Schaub stated that steroid consumption is part of Brazilians' basic MMA training and insinuated that José Aldo will have a great chance of being defeated by Conor McGregor for this reason.

“With this new anti-doping system, have you noticed how all Brazilians are not doing so well? I'm just saying that if there are MMA disciplines for Brazilians, they would be muay thai, jiu-jitsu, steroids and boxing. It's strange, it's strange. Tell me a Brazilian who has done well since this new anti-doping system began. Taking Demian Maia [who won Neil Magny at UFC 190]. That's why I'm choosing Conor McGregor to defeat Aldo. It is for this exact reason. It's very weird. Look Renan Barao: he didn’t look very good,” said Schaub, referring to the Brazilian’s fight against TJ Dillashaw, at the end of last month.

Schaub, 32 years old, has been a UFC fighter since the end of 2009. In the largest MMA organization on the planet, he has won six victories against five defeats. Despite having played as a heavyweight throughout his career, the American revealed that he will move down to light heavyweight.
