It wasn't the same great fight that marked the PRIDE middleweight GP in 2005 and made MMA history, but the rematch between Mauritius Shogun e Rogério Minotouro there was a lot of emotion and divided opinions among the fans present at the HSBC Arena, for UFC 190.

As in the first time they faced each other, Shogun started at a disadvantage, suffering a tough knockdown and coming very close to losing by knockout, but managed to turn things around and won the judges' decision.

The result, however, did not please most of the fans present at the gym for the event, in the early hours of this Sunday (02), and divided the public between applause and boos – the latter, in a clear majority.

With the triumph, Shogun put an end to a streak of two consecutive defeats, both in Brazil, and won again in Ultimate after more than a year and a half.

The fight

At the beginning of the fight, Shogun quickly took control of the center of the octagon and followed Minotouro's movement. Until the last minute of the first half, it was the former champion who dominated the actions and landed the most blows. That changed, however, when Minotouro landed a hard blow on his rival, who was visibly shaken. After this good moment, the duel gained in excitement and the final seconds were marked by frank exchanges and good chances for both sides.

At the beginning of the second half, Shogun surprised Minotouro and put his opponent down right away. With the superior position on the ground, Maurício also took the opportunity to rest, while he scored and connected some blows on the ground. ground and pound. The strategy seems to have had an effect and the Curitiba native managed to get good shots on the waistline to guarantee the advantage in the partial.

In the third and final round, Minotouro came back better, but Shogun quickly balanced the actions. After spending much of the round in exchanges, Shogun attempted the takedown, but left his neck exposed, allowing Minotouro to attempt a guillotine. Exhausted, however, Rogério ended up giving up his position and ended the fight suffering blows from his rival from above.

Reginaldo Vieira wins TUF title in bantamweight

The fight started at a mile a minute and Dileno landed a hard punch to the waist. Quickly, Reginaldo responded with a guillotine attempt, which did not threaten the Team Shogun athlete. Soon after, it was Dileno's turn to try to land two guillotines in a row on his rival, but also without success. More tired, Dileno ended up getting the worst of it in the final stretch, suffering hard blows.

In the second and third stages, both fighters lost rhythm, due to the great intensity of the initial five minutes. Even so, the duel did not lose any emotion and was marked by fierce competition and alternation of dominance between the finalists until the last second.

At the end of the confrontation, Reginaldo Vieira was declared the winner in a unanimous decision by the judges. With this, the athlete, who had been eliminated in the quarter-finals of the reality show and only returned thanks to a chance in the repechage, guaranteed the title for Nogueira's team (former team of Anderson Silva).

Glaico finishes in the final stretch and becomes lightweight champion
