At the beginning of the fight, the Brazilian kept his rival from medium to long distance, with good movement and abusing the North American's high kicks and waistline. While Edson tried his signature strike, Felder also bet on his trademark: spinning strikes. In the final stretch of the partial, Barboza landed a round kick squarely in the genital region of his rival, who immediately fell to the ground. Despite this, he did not have a point deducted and was only warned by the referee.

The second round can be summed up in one word: tension. The two athletes studied each other a lot and only let their game loose at the end of the half, when Felder landed an elbow that opened the Brazilian's eyebrow. In turn, Edson responded with powerful kicks to the American's waistline.

In the third and final round, already with the advantage of the previous rounds, Edson Barboza He maintained intense movement to avoid Felder's attacks and controlled the American until the end of regulation time. Still in the octagon, the Brazilian asked for a better ranked opponent in his next fight. “I practice this a lot. He (Felder) is an excellent striker, but I train too much for that. I can't wait to get back to the Octagon. I hope the UFC gives me an opponent who is above me in the rankings, because I have never felt as good as I do now”, he said, to commentator Joe Rogan.

Lauzon beats PRIDE legend with 'merciful' knockout

Takanori Gomi was once one of the biggest names in world MMA, back when he shined in the Japanese PRIDE rings. However, today, the “Fireball Kid” is going through a much more complicated moment in his career and has accumulated four defeats in his last seven fights. On Saturday night (25), Gomi was once again knocked out, in a very strange way, by Joe lauzon.

With his best chance against Lauzon in striking, Gomi was easily taken down by the American and almost fell into a very unusual kneebar. After that, the Japanese turned his back and fell victim to Lauzon's ground and pound, who even stopped punching even before the referee interrupted, noticing that his opponent was already showing signs of giving up.

“Imundo” returns after more than two years with knockout

Without fighting since the beginning of 2013, Tom Lawlor returned to the octagon in style in the fight that closed the preliminary card of UFC on FOX 16. The “Imundo”, as he is known, beat Gian Villante, training partner of the middleweight champion Chris Weidman, with a devastating knockout at the beginning of the second round.

After losing the first round, marked by frank exchanges between the athletes and Villante's powerful kicks, Lawlor came back with everything for the second half and, after 27 seconds, landed a well-aimed cross to his rival's chin, which took him to the canvas. The referee's interruption was still questioned, but Gian appeared in the images still staggering while complaining to the referee after getting up.

After the triumph, Lawlor, who moved up a category, still vented and rebutted his critics. “For seven years I was a joke to you. But now I'm here, at light heavyweight, and I'm going to prove myself. This is the ‘Filthy’ punch!”, he said, in an interview with commentator Joe Rogan.
