The American athlete was caught twice driving under the influence of narcotics, which could include drugs or alcohol. The first of them was in November 2013, and the second in September 2014, both in Lodi, in the US state of California.
However, Diaz will only spend 24 hours in prison. His lawyer reached an agreement with the local court of justice and it was determined that the fighter's sentence would be two days. However, he has one day of credit for being detained when caught in September last year. The athlete must return to court at the end of the month.
Diaz's last fight was in January of this year, when he ended up being defeated by Anderson Silva in the main fight of UFC 183, in the judges' decision. After the fight, both athletes were caught using prohibited substances – the Brazilian with anabolic steroids and anxiolytics and Diaz with marijuana.
