Ronda Rousey He never tires of overturning taboos and taking the name of MMA to territories never before visited by mixed martial arts stars. After being named the best female athlete of 2014 at the “ESPY Award” (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award, or “Annual Award for Excellence in Sports Performance”), considered the “Oscar of Sports” in the United States and presented by the North American channel ESPN, the UFC bantamweight champion not only repeated the feat in 2015 but also won the award for “Best Fighter”, beating none other than boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., who even had to listen to the blonde's provocations.

At the awards ceremony, held on Wednesday night (15), in Los Angeles (USA), Ronda beat names such as tennis player Serena Williams and skiing legend Lindsey Vonn to win the “Best Female Athlete” statuette. In the “Best Fighter” category, which until then had only been won by Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao, “Rowdy” surpassed, in addition to Mayweather himself, boxers Gennady Golovkin (undefeated in professional boxing and with a history of devastating knockouts) and Terence Crawford (World Boxing Organization junior middleweight champion), and fellow UFC fighter Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

After the historic achievement, Ronda did not forget the previous jabs he received from Floyd Mayweather and provoked his rival, even recalling the episodes of domestic violence experienced by the millionaire boxer, who once again became the highest paid athlete on the planet. “I wanted to know how Floyd was feeling after being hit by a woman for the first time. I would like to see him pretending he doesn’t know who I am now”, said Rousey, in an interview given on the “ESPYs” red carpet.

With two more awards for your collection, Ronda Rousey now turns his attention exclusively to UFC 190, an event that takes place on August 1st, at the HSBC Arena, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). On the card, the only event in pay-per-view arriving on Brazilian soil in 2015, Ronda will put her belt on the line against the undefeated Brazilian challenger Beth Pitbull.
