Once again, the Brazilian Chris Cyborg didn't even need a minute cage to defend the Invicta FC featherweight belt. On Thursday night (09), in the main fight of the 13th edition of the exclusively women's event, Cyborg took no notice of New Zealand's Faith van Duin and managed the knockout just 45 seconds into the first round. After the triumph, the Brazilian assured that she will start the process of cutting weight with the aim of lowering her category and challenged her rival Ronda Rousey.
“I'm going to try to hit 61,2 kg, or even 63 kg (combined weight of 140 pounds, intermediate to the featherweight and bantamweight categories). Ronda Rousey, stop running!”, shot the Brazilian. With the triumph over Van Duin, Cyborg expanded his professional record to 14 wins, one loss and one fight without result.
The night of Invicta FC 13, however, was not just about celebration for the Brazilian fans. Defending the organization's recently won atomweight title for the first time, Brazilian Hérica Tibúrcio ended up defeated by Japanese Ayaka Hamasaki in a split decision by the judges.
Furthermore, the card in Las Vegas (USA) also had another surprise in store for fans. In the co-main fight of the night, the Mexican favorite Irene aldana ended up being knocked out by American Tonya Evinger in the fourth round. With the victory, Evinger won the vacant bantamweight title.
