Unfortunately, once again, a great world MMA star exchanges the headlines on the sports pages for the police notebook. The name of the moment is heavyweight Travis Browne, who got to compete for the UFC belt last year. The athlete's girlfriend, Jenna Renee Webb, took to social media to denounce a history of domestic violence in the couple's history and, as evidence, released photos of several bruises on her body.
“Probably one of the hardest decisions I made was abandoning that life and starting over. I'm still embarrassed I stayed this long,” Webb wrote, along with the photos and the hashtag “domestic violence awareness”. Then, asked by a fan if the accusations were really directed at Travis Browne, she confirmed that she was talking about the fighter. “Yes, it was Travis (who did it),” she replied.
To date, Jenna Renee Webb, who has an important career as a model fitness in the United States, did not say whether he filed a complaint against the fighter. Furthermore, neither Browne nor even the UFC, which has a strict code of conduct and severely punishes athletes involved in episodes like this, have officially commented on the matter.
At 32 years old, Travis Browne has a professional record of 17 wins, three losses and one draw. “Happa”, as he is known, competed for the heavyweight belt against Fabricio Werdum, current champion of the category, in April last year, but ended up defeated by the Brazilian. The Hawaiian comes from a defeat to Andrei Arlovski, at UFC 187, held on May 23rd.
