The recent wave of doping cases, which had its greatest exponent in the positive tests of the former Brazilian champion Anderson Silva, aroused public concern regarding the use of banned substances in MMA. And if it depends on the words of the UFC middleweight Sam alvey, distrust is more than justifiable. In an interview, Alvey spoke about the use of performance-enhancing drugs among professional athletes, he did not hesitate to accuse the legendary Fedor Emelianenko and risked a high percentage when talking about steroids in sport.

“Everyone takes steroids. I think even in the UFC nowadays, most guys take it. This was a common condition. So even if he (Fedor Emelianenko) used steroids, everyone else also used them”, said Alvey, in an interview with the “P4P” podcast, without skimping on the numbers when talking about how many athletes would be using steroids in Ultimate. “I would say 90%… Human beings don’t look like that,” he added.

“Simley” (smiling, in free translation), as he is known, also said that he hopes that some athletes will be caught with the new, stricter, anti-doping policy of the UFC, but assured that, as happened in other sports, athletes they will find a way to cheat.

“Yeah, I think some are going to get caught. In baseball, they make a lot more money, so they can afford really, really good drugs. People will always find a way to cheat. It's just a matter of seeing how things are and paying to use the drugs that aren't being tested. What is this deer antler spray (red deer antler) that everyone is using in baseball now? Now, they're testing the guys and they're going to find it in everyone. So, they will find something that makes them even stronger and that is not yet within the scope of testing. People always find a way to cheat,” she concluded.
