It was a massacre. Joanna Jedrzejczyk successfully defended the UFC strawweight belt this Saturday (20), in the main fight of the Fight Night 69 event, in Berlin, Germany.

The Polish dominated the actions against Jessica penne from start to finish, resisting the challenger's takedown attempts and applying her efficient striking. The North American could do little to resist, and was easy prey for the champion until the referee stopped her in the third round.

Practically from the start of the fight, Jessica penne showed no intention of exchanging with Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The challenger looked for the clinch and takedowns, but she was always rejected by the champion. When she tried once again to grab the champion, Jedrzejczyk connected good blows and applied a knockdown in the challenger. Even though Penne fell groggily, the Polish woman avoided getting flustered and entering the challenger's guard. The North American fell at the end, but there was no time for anything else.

The second round began with a more open fight compared to the first round, with both showing initiative. Penne insisted on the takedown, but again the Polish woman defended. Joanna landed hard blows on Penne's face, which caused profuse bleeding from the American's nose. The champion tried to settle the bill, with blows to the face and body, but Penne resisted bravely. The American was barely able to respond to the attacks, and ended the round with major bruises on her face.

Despite having attacked forcefully in the previous rounds, Jedrzejczyk looked whole at the beginning of the third round. The champion was undermining the challenger with several blows, while Penne, slow, did not threaten. The American tried to take down in desperation, but Jedrzejczyk remained standing. The Pole tried a clumsy flying knee, and Penne took advantage of it to try the takedown. The fight, however, remained ongoing. In the final minute of the third round, Jedrzejczyk cornered Penne against the fence and was striking, when the referee, Marc Goddard, interrupted the actions.

In the second most important fight of the night, Tatsuya Kawajiri defeated Dennis Siver by judges' decision, in a fight valid in the featherweight category. The event in Berlin also had the participation of two Brazilians on the preliminary card, and the balance ended up being negative. Former champion of Jungle Fight, Júnior Alpha was knocked out by Scott Askham in the first round; already the former shoeshine boy Alan Nuguette lost his unbeaten record in MMA using the same method, against Mairbek Taisumov.

The rest of the UFC Berlin main card:

The main card started quite warmly at the event in Berlin. The first fight on the list, between Nick Hein and Lukasz Sajewski, was developed almost entirely in striking, with no blows or moments of greater force on the part of any of the athletes.

Sajewski spent the fight walking forward, clumsily trying to hunt down the German. Hein, in turn, calculated his strikes more, connecting direct shots and accurate crosses on the Pole.

At the end of the three rounds of competition, Hein was named winner in a unanimous decision by the judges. The German is recovering from the defeat he suffered against James Vick in his last fight, in November 2014; Sajewski loses his unbeaten record in MMA in his MMA debut.

German Sobotta wins another one in the UFC

The German fans continued to celebrate in the second fight on the main card. Peter sobotta He had no difficulty defeating Steve Kennedy, settling the bill quickly in the first round.

Sobotta started the fight aggressively, going head-to-head with his striking. He then took the Australian to the ground and quickly got on his back. It became a matter of time: the German secured a rear naked choke, ending the fight at 2:57 of the first round.

Kawajiri defeats Siver via judges' decision

In the second most notable fight of the night, Tatsuya Kawajiri got the better of Dennis Siver in a heated fight in Berlin. The Japanese had a clear strategy of taking the German to the ground, something he was unable to do at first. Siver managed to connect some blows while standing, which briefly frustrated the veteran.

However, from the second round onwards, Kawajiri was successful with the takedowns, controlling positions on the ground without giving Siver much of a chance. The Japanese only had to be careful with some submission attempts from Siver, such as guillotines. However, at the end of the three rounds, Kawajiri won the unanimous decision of the judges.

Thus, Kawajiri achieved his second victory in three fights in the UFC; the German, on the other hand, suffered his second setback in a row, as he had lost to Conor McGregor in January.
