Preparations for the fight between Cain Velazquez e Fabricio Werdum, held last Saturday (13), were surrounded by animosity between the fighters' teams. Even with the hot weather, Velasquez's colleagues recognized the Brazilian's superiority at UFC 188 and congratulated the organization's new heavyweight champion.

Velasquez's main trainer, Javier Mendez, even said that Werdum would have no chance in the fight. Afterwards, he gave his hand. “All credits to Werdum! He made me swallow my words. He prepared himself in training and I didn't do my job. The best man won that night,” Mendez wrote on his Twitter account. Twitter.
Training partner of the former champion, Luke Rockhold has made several criticisms of Werdum in recent weeks, especially with regard to his personality. However, the next challenger for the middleweight belt also congratulated the Brazilian for his work. “Credits to Werdum, who had a great fight and had intelligent training. He's the real champion now. Cain will return,” he wrote, also in Twitter.
Fabricio Werdum unified the UFC heavyweight belt by defeating Cain Velazquez by submission, in the third round of the fight held in Mexico City.
