After announcing last year that he was close to retiring, Anderson Silva seems to have given up on the idea. In an interview with the MMA Weekly radio program, the fighter's manager, Ed Soares, ruled out the possibility of “Spider” hanging up his gloves in 2010.
“I think Anderson has two or three years of his career, with him fighting well in eight or nine fights, maybe even more” he said. “He doesn’t get hurt in fights and that helps with training,” he added.
The businessman also stated that Anderson could return to fight at light heavyweight and even at heavyweight.
“I believe he will still have great fights. That’s what he wants, regardless of weight”, commented Soares. “Whether it’s light heavyweight, combined weight or even heavyweight, it doesn’t make any difference. He just wants to challenge himself and be involved in some of the biggest fights the UFC can put on.”
Anderson's next challenge will be at UFC-112, in Abu Dhabi, in the Middle East, when he will defend his middleweight belt against fellow Brazilian Vitor belfort.
