A few months ago, the announcement that Anderson Silva intended to compete in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio shook the world of MMA, but provoked reactions of dissatisfaction among athletes from taekwondo, a modality in which Spider intended to try for a spot. However, Anderson's dream must come to an end before it even gets off the ground. At least that's what the former champion's manager, Jorge “Joinha” Guimarães, assures.

“This issue of the Olympics has already been discarded. Anderson will not participate in the Olympics. He is now awaiting the Athletic Commission's verdict (on his UFC 183 doping case), which should be coming soon. We are waiting, let's see if there will be punishment and how long it will be. He has been training, Anderson is a guy who never stops training. He is staying active”, said Joinha, in an interview with the “PVT” website.

Currently, Anderson Silva is temporarily suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission, after being caught twice in anti-doping tests for the use of anabolic steroids and anxiolytics, before and after the fight against Nick Diaz at UFC 183. This Tuesday (09), the Spider requested a further postponement of the disciplinary hearing which will define his future, and now he must face trial only in August.
