the irish Conor McGregor is compared by many MMA fans to the controversial Chael Sonnen, who marked an era in sport for his irreverent style and acidic statements. However, despite the similarities, “mentor” Sonnen does not bet on McGregor in the fight against José Aldo. Previewing UFC 189, the loudmouth scored a fearless victory for the Brazilian champion.

“I just wanted to say that I don’t think it will be a close fight. I think the José Aldo will run over (McGregor). And that's not an attack on Conor, it's just that I have a lot of respect for Aldo. When I think about the killers in the category, what comes to mind is Frankie Edgar, Chad Mendes e José Aldo. I don’t think McGregor fits into that group,” said Sonnen, in an interview with the “Anik and Florian” podcast, led by the Ultimate broadcasting duo Jon Anik and Kenny Florian.

Chael even took the opportunity to “deliver” an old bet from his friend Kenny Florian in McGregor's development and success. “I remember the Kenny Florian, after one of his (McGregor) fights on the preliminary card of some event, he pulled me aside and said that McGregor could beat Aldo. Now, we're close to the fight between the two and I still can't see it. I don't know as much about fighting as Kenny, but I think Aldo will put an end to this guy. This conversation we had is the only reason I want to watch the fight,” he said.
