UFC Goiânia: in a very busy fight, Do Bronx submits Lentz

The Brazilian came close to defining the fight in the first round, but got a submission in the final round with a beautiful guillotine choke

With a heated rivalry between the fighters, expectations were high for the fight between Charles of the Bronx e Nik lentz at UFC Fight Night 67, in Goiânia. Lentz tried to close the distance and take Do Bronx to the ground, but the Brazilian responded to all of the North American's actions with aggression. When the two returned to the octagon for the final round, the atmosphere was one of decision. And there was no other way: when Lentz clinched and tried for a takedown, Do Bronx cleverly applied a guillotine choke, still standing.

Lentz tried to defend himself in every way, but he had no alternative but to hit. With the result, Do Bronx continues the good phase of his career, obtaining his fourth consecutive victory; Lentz, on the other hand, suffered his second setback in three fights.

TUF Brazil veteran, Francisco Massaranduba defeated Norman Parke by judges' decision in Goiânia. The result, however, generated controversy considering the course of the fight.

Everyone's strategy was clear during the fight. massaranduba He had the better of standing, connecting good blows, but the Northern Irishman worked more efficiently on the ground. Parke achieved important takedowns in the first and third rounds, managing to cause greater damage to the Brazilian, while, in the second period, massaranduba kept the fight standing and had the advantage.

At the end of the three rounds played, massaranduba was named winner in a split decision by the judges. Thus, the Brazilian wins his third in a row in Ultimate, while Parke loses his second in the UFC – and his second in a row against a Brazilian, as he had lost to Gleison Tibau in January.

The third fight on the main card of UFC Goiânia ended up leaving something to be desired for the fans in the gym. Francimar Bodão and Ryan Jimmo had a very tepid fight, full of clinches and with little effectiveness, which caused boos from the public.

Karateka Jimmo tried to keep the fight at long range, but Bodão tried to shorten it all the time. The difference in strategies resulted in a truncated fight, with few clean strikes.

Jimmo, also hampered by a Brazilian kick to his genital area in the second round, was unable to impose his game and ended up frustrated by Bodão. As a result, the victory went to the athlete from Nova União, who prevailed in the judges' decision.

Even though he accepted the fight at the last minute, Alex Cowboy achieved an important and surprisingly quick victory at UFC Goiânia. The Brazilian, who replaced the ill Yan Cabral in the attraction, needed less than a round to submit the North American veteran KJ Noons.

The fight between the two welterweights began with striking, with Noons focusing on his boxing. Cowboy, however, didn't run away from the fight, and tried to go toe-to-toe with the former EliteXC champion. Afterwards, the Brazilian attempted a takedown, and managed to take Noons to the ground after some resistance from the Hawaiian.

On the ground, Noons seemed calm, but Cowboy took advantage of a moment of distraction from his rival to lock in a rear naked choke. Noons had no choice but to give the “three taps”, which gave Cowboy his first UFC victory. Noons, on the other hand, suffers his first defeat in three fights, after two wins and a no-contest.
