Fighting between training partners is one of the biggest taboos in MMA today. Urijah faber, however, goes against the majority by leaving open the possibility of, one day, facing his colleague TJ Dillashaw in a fight for the UFC bantamweight belt.

This weekend, Faber faces Frankie Edgar in the top category, the featherweights. In case of victory, the “California Kid” knows that he will put himself in a prominent position, which could even result in a title fight in his original category.
“I'm not an idiot. I'm not doing these things just to do them. If I beat the number one contender, you know what it means. Frankie is coming off several great victories, he is very well ranked and I have no doubt that, with a victory, I would put myself ahead of him. This is a business, this is entertainment, and we need to look for new opportunities”, commented Faber, when asked by the broadcaster “FOX Sports” about the possibility of facing Dillashaw in the future.
Faber even said that he considers it a waste when big fights that fans want end up not happening. “I'm a big fan of this sport and I hate to see opportunities being wasted. I'm a guy who wants big fights. I hate seeing big fights not happening. We will never see Jon Jones x Anderson Silva. This sucks. We'll never see some of those dream fights like Fedor Emelianenko x Randy Couture. And I don’t want to let opportunities pass me by,” he said.
