The UFC announced that it will make important changes to its Hall of Fame, which will now have different categories and the possibility of even having a physical headquarters in Las Vegas, in the United States.

Details will be given on the weekend of UFC 189, in the first half of July, the main event of which will be José Aldo x Conor McGregor. This season, the UFC intends to announce five new inductees to the Hall of Fame. The select list will now have four categories: Modern Era, Pioneer Era, Collaborators and Struggles.
The Modern Era will feature fighters who debuted in professional MMA after November 17, 2000, the date used as a symbol for the beginning of the era of unified rules for the sport. To fit into this category, the fighter must be over 35 years of age or have been retired for more than a year. The Pioneer Era will have athletes who debuted in MMA until November 16, 2000, which would include names like Anderson Silva e Vitor belfort.
Collaborators will include people or groups of people who contributed to the growth of the UFC, including referees, managers, judges or coaches. Finally, the Fights will feature the organization's best fights, the only condition being that it must have been held more than five years after its appointment.
Between 2015 and 2017, at least one new member will be nominated for each category; From 2018 onwards, new names will be appointed, although not necessarily one from each category.
The current UFC Hall of Fame does not have any category distinction. Current members are Mark Coleman, Randy Couture, Pat Miletich, Royce gracie, Matt hugs, Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell, Forrest griffin, Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock, Stephan bonnar and Charles “The Mask” Lewis, the latter the only non-fighter on the list.
