Coming off a dominant victory over Lyoto Machida last month, Luke Rockhold is very close to being able to challenge for the UFC belt soon. However, the American seems to have not forgotten his only tormentor in the octagon so far, Vitor belfort, whom he harshly criticized in an interview given to the “Submission Radio” podcast.

Rockhold, who was knocked out by “Fenômeno” with a beautiful round kick in 2013, cast doubt on the suitability of the Brazilian, whom he accuses of using banned substances to fight. “Vitor is a joke. I'll say it over and over again: this guy hasn't fought clean once in his entire life. I think his entire career is a joke”, he said.
The American hopes to soon show that he is the best fighter in the world in the middleweight division, even if he is unable to overcome the defeat he suffered against Belfort. “I want to show that I'm the best fighter, and I think I can show that in many ways. If Weidman goes there and beats Vitor easily, then I think we'll all know the story. I go there and beat Weidman, which shows that I'm the best and that I was hit by a lucky shot. But if I can get the rematch against Vitor, there won't be anything better. Nothing,” he said.
Current UFC middleweight champion, Chris Weidman will defend the title against Vitor belfort on May 23, at UFC 187. The winner of this fight is expected to face Rockhold, although this has not yet been officially confirmed by the UFC.
