Even though the UFC flyweight division is relatively new, Demetrious Johnson He is already considered one of the most dominant champions today. The North American, owner of the belt since its creation in 2012, has already defended his belt five times, and will put the title on the line again this Saturday (25), against Kyoji Horiguchi at UFC 186.

The “Mighty Mouse”, as he is known, even compared his reign in the category with that of Ronda Rousey in between the female roosters. Asked about the matter by the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”, Johnson stated that he feels like an even more dominant champion because he has already faced more prominent opponents.
"It's hard to say. Ronda is going over everyone, but I think you see the true caliber of a champion when he is tested by the opponents in front of him. I fought Dodson, Benavidez, Moraga, Ali Bagautinov. These guys are dirty. I don't want to belittle Zingano cat e Miesha Tate, but those guys are tough. Don't get me wrong – she destroys her opponents, but you only recognize the caliber of a champion when they go through some difficulty. I’m not saying she’s not a champion, but I will say I’m more dominant,” Johnson responded.
Even with his dominance in the flyweight division, Johnson is not considered one of the most popular champions today. In fact, the fighter is criticized for being responsible for few sales in pay-per-view. However, the North American doesn't care much about criticism about his style. “If you don’t want to watch me, that’s your problem. Go watch soap operas or go watch quince fights. But, if you want to see pure MMA, with two great athletes showing off, you need to stay tuned”, he warned, in an interview with the “MMA Fighting” website.
