Phil Davis explains why he left UFC for Bellator: 'We fight for money'

The North American, formerly ranked seventh in the light heavyweight rankings of the largest MMA organization on the planet, was free to negotiate after the end of his contract and decided to sign with the second most important event today.

In an interview with the North American website “MMA Junkie”, Davis, when asked why he changed organizations, gave a very sincere explanation. "It's simple. We, as fighters, fight people for money. There's no secret to it, folks. We fight for money”, he explained.

According to him, there were conversations for his contract to be renewed, but the financial values ​​discussed were not to his satisfaction. “I considered the chance to renew with the UFC and made an offer, but they turned it down. There was another offer on the table and they [UFC] refused to match it,” he said.

It is not yet known when and against whom Davis will debut in Bellator. The current category champion is the undefeated Liam McGeary.
