How great is the pain of defeat? In case of Alexander Gustafson and the setback for Anthony Johnson at UFC on FOX 14 in front of his home crowd in Sweden, which cost him his chance at a light heavyweight title rematch, the answer is: devastating. Already recovered and with a fight scheduled against the Brazilian Glover Teixeira, Gustafsson revealed that he even considered ending his career after the traumatic knockout suffered in January.

“It was by far the most difficult period of my life. I was seriously thinking about retiring from MMA. I don't care about the title, the problem was what happened in front of my audience. My family was there, I came close to stopping, but now I have a new fight that gives me motivation to continue. I almost stopped, but I will continue. I do it for money, but also to be the best in the world”, said the Swede, in an interview with the local newspaper “Expressen”.
