The featherweight category has been gaining a lot of attention in the news thanks to the rivalry between José Aldo e Conor McGregor, who will face each other on July 11th for the division title. However, a very important fight for the direction of the under-66 kg category will take place next weekend, in the main attraction of UFC Fight Night 63.

Last challengers for the category belt, Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas fight crucially for the direction of their careers in an attempt to compete for the title again. The duo will square off in the octagon this Saturday (4), in the city of Fairfax, Virginia (USA).

First placed in the category ranking, Mendes had his most recent fight against Aldo, in an epic fight held in Rio de Janeiro. Months earlier, Lamas was defeated by the Brazilian at UFC 169, with both losing in the judges' decision. A victory next Saturday will put the winner back on a collision course with the champion.

Another highlight of the event is the emerging lightweight To the fifth, who will seek his fourth consecutive victory against the experienced Jorge masvidal. The TUF 18 champion, Julianna Pena, is having her first fight since winning the title, in November 2013, against Milana Dudieva. Former lightweight title challenger, Gray Maynard try to ward off the bad phase against Alexander Yakovlev.

The only Brazilian in the attraction, Carlos Diego Ferreira welcomes Dustin poirier, who moves up to the lightweight category after losing to McGregor at featherweight.
