Last Tuesday (24), Conor McGregor bet that his fight against José Aldo will break all sales records, which can even be compared to the “Fight of the Century” in boxing between Floyd Mayweather Jr. x Manny Pacquiao. And it's good that the Irishman is right, as Ultimate president Dana White revealed that the organization has never spent as much to promote an event as it did with UFC 189, and must certainly be eyeing an astronomical return.

“This fight is huge. It's so big that we're doing this tour around the world. We probably spent more money promoting this fight than we have ever spent on any other fight in the history of the UFC”, said the director in an interview with the official newspaper “UFC Tonight”, without revealing, however, the figures invested. In addition to the usual expenses for events in pay-per-view, such as promotional events and advertising, the promotion of UFC 189 is counting on a world tour with visits to South America, North America and Europe.

Dana also said that the fight for the featherweight belt will be the most important fight of 2015. “Personally, I think this is the biggest fight of the year. It's a fight the world will watch. When you have a fight where countries literally care about it, it's a great thing. Everyone in Brazil will watch Aldo defend his title and everyone in the UK will watch. And you still have Canada, the United States, Australia…”, he analyzed.

The UFC 189 world tour, which has already visited Rio de Janeiro and some cities in the United States, continues this Thursday (26) in New York. From the largest North American city, José Aldo e Conor McGregor head to the main Canadian metropolis, Toronto, where they share the spotlight with fans of Rory McDonald – that challenges Robbie Lawler in the co-main event of the night. Next week, Aldo and McGregor arrive in Europe and have commitments in London (England) and Dublin (Ireland), where the series of events ends.
