Vitor belfort complained about the difference in the number of surprise anti-doping tests he had to undergo compared to his next opponent, Chris Weidman, with whom he will fight for the UFC middleweight title in May.

The Brazilian stated that he had to undergo many more tests compared to Weidman, and asked that, instead, the system be more equal and require the same number of tests from both. “Everyone needs to be tested equally. If they want to test me to fight Weidman, they need to test Weidman on the same day, at the same time. This is an egalitarian system. It needs to be fair. It’s not fair that I was tested seven times and he was only tested once”, said the Brazilian, at a recent press conference. “I wish they would come and test me every day. Come and collect my blood, my urine, but it needs to be the same for everyone.”
Despite Belfort's complaints, there is an official explanation for the difference in numbers of surprise drug tests. As he was found to have high levels of testosterone in his system last year, Belfort agreed to undergo additional tests in order to obtain a license to fight. Weidman only underwent standard surprise exams. The two fighters will face each other at UFC 187, on May 23, in the city of Las Vegas (USA).
