After a troubled exit, Bellator files a lawsuit and demands Rampage's return

The former champion returned to the Octagon at the end of last year and it is not yet known whether the action will interfere with his debut, against Fábio Maldonado, at UFC 186

Bellator doesn't seem to have taken kindly to Bellator's departure. Quinton Rampage Jackson, who, just over a year after signing a contract with the organization, left through the back door claiming that his agreement had been breached and returned to the UFC in December last year. This Monday (02), the second biggest MMA event on the planet announced that it is opening a process in which it will demand the return of the athlete to its squad.

“We seek to have our MMA star back fighting for Bellator again,” said the organization, in a brief statement published on the North American website “MMA Junkie”. Also according to the publication, the action being processed in New Jersey asks the judge to grant an injunction that obliges Rampage Jackson to fulfill his contract with Bellator. The Viacom group event claims that the fighter only had three of the six fights included in his agreement, signed in 2013.

At the time he left Bellator, Rampage released an official note explaining the reasons for his departure and what he was relying on to achieve contract termination. “After five months of grueling, exhaustive contract negotiations with Bellator and the Viacom group, I, Quinton Rampage Jackson I have officially terminated my contract with the promotion citing several violations since the removal of President and founder Bjorn Rebney. I exercise a clause in the contract that allows a 45-day window to satisfy any contract dispute. Bellator MMA, which failed to comply with the requests, was issued a warning. Still, they were unable to respond and were eventually notified that negotiations were officially over.”

At 36, Quinton Rampage Jackson He has a professional record of 35 wins and eleven losses. The former UFC light heavyweight champion, and historical rival of the Brazilian Wanderlei Silva since his PRIDE days, he has won victories over Joey Beltran, Christian M'Pumbu and King mo Lawal at Bellator. In his re-debut in the Octagon, Rampage is scheduled to face “Caipira de Aço” Fábio Maldonado, on April 25th, at UFC 186.
