After a long period without public demonstrations, since the announcement that he had been caught in a surprise doping test, Anderson Silva is at least back on social media. In his first publications, however, Spider, who has already released a long outburst denying having used illegal substances before UFC 183, adopted a mysterious tone. Without further explanation, the fighter just posted a video criticizing Rede Globo.

Titled “Pedro Cardoso detonates Globo”, the video features the actor’s participation in the program “Na Moral”, presented by Pedro Bial. In the attraction, which dealt with public and private life, in addition to the relationship between celebrities and paparazzi, Cardoso gives a long speech criticizing the culture of daily and continuous consumption of celebrity privacy. At one point, a photographer present raises the question of whether Globo itself, through vehicles that are part of its group, is one of the main reproducers of this type of content. Even in the face of the comment, Pedro maintains his stance and extends his criticism of large businesspeople in the communications sector.

Since Rede Globo acquired the UFC broadcasting rights, Anderson Silva and the Rio broadcaster have maintained a good relationship. Spider is a recurring figure in the house's programs and it was, for example, on the Sunday show “Fantástico” that he gave his first exclusive interview after the serious fracture in his left leg. According to columnist Daniel Castro, at the beginning of the month, Globo even sent one of its managers to the United States to closely monitor the fighter's case, especially with regard to his participation in the reality show “The Ultimater Fighter Brasil 4” – which ended up being suspended days later.

PUBLICITY:

On February 3rd, a few days after winning Nick Diaz at UFC 183, it was announced that Anderson Silva had tested positive for the anabolic steroids drostanolone and androsterone in a surprise anti-doping test carried out on January 9th. A second examination, carried out on the 19th of the same month, did not show any trace of illegal substances. In the post-fight examination, however, Anderson tested positive again for anabolic steroids and, in addition, also for two anxiolytics, Oxazepam and Temazepam, medicines generally used to combat insomnia and sleep disorders.

A final decision on the case will be made at a disciplinary hearing at the Nevada Athletic Commission, with no official date yet, but which should take place in March. If found guilty by the regulatory body, Anderson could be fined part of his earnings, see victory over Nick Diaz be reversed into a “No Contest” (fight without result) and receive a suspension of nine months or more.
