In an interview with the “Tatame” magazine website, Botti gave his version of the events. He said that the discussion started for a trivial reason, as the fighter wanted to enter the jiu-jitsu mat using combat boots. wrestling, which was not allowed. After catching Brown's attention, Botti said he heard a series of insults, and the next day, when they went to talk about the matter again, the fighter got angry and started the attack.

“I had just had cataract surgery on my left eye, so my first instinct was to get up and protect my eye, as I had 16 internal stitches. I screamed: 'Look at my eye, you son of a bitch! I have surgery'. At the police station, he said that I pushed him first, that I started the fight. It's unbelievable. He is a criminal”, said the coach.

Botti stated that Brown's blows ended up opening the stitches he had received during eye surgery, which required a new procedure.
