UFC announces press conference and prepares measures to combat doping in MMA

The organization will speak to the press next Wednesday (18), one day after the trial hearing in Anderson Silva's case

The series of doping cases involving big names in MMA, among which the former Brazilian champion stands out Anderson Silva, turned on the yellow light at the top of the UFC, the biggest event on the planet. Given this scenario, the organization announced a press conference for next Wednesday (18), in which it will announce measures to combat the use of illegal substances in sport.

The interview called by Ultimate takes place one day after the preliminary hearing that will judge the doping case. Anderson Silva, caught using anabolic steroids in a surprise exam carried out during his preparation for the duel against Nick Diaz, who also tested positive after the fight, but for marijuana. Information about the press conference was released by “UFC Tonight”, the organization’s official newspaper on North American TV.

In just one week, four important athletes in the world of MMA tested positive in anti-doping tests, three of them in the UFC. Are they: Anderson Silva, Nick Diaz, Hector Lombard and Jon Fitch – the latter, who previously played in Ultimate, but now plays for WSOF. With the exception of Diaz, who was caught using a recreational drug, the others showed traces of performance-enhancing substances (or PEDs) in their bodies.
