Liddell overcomes Wand and Machida passes Sokoudjou at UFC-79

UFC-79, the best event of the year, with exciting fights, submissions and knockouts has just ended at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States. The show featured the great victory of Lyoto Machida over Cameroon's Rameau Sokoudjou, by submission, with a hand triangle in the second round, the defeat of Wanderlei Silva in the judges' decision for Chuck Liddell and the conquest of the interim welterweight title by Georges St Pierre ending Matt hugs with an arm lock.

In addition to Wanderlei and Lyoto, Brazil had two more athletes at the event. Roan Jucão beat Tony deSouza due to referee interruption in the 2nd round, while Luiz Arthur Banha was disqualified for applying an illegal blow to James Irvin (knee with an opponent with four supports).
