“If he did it, I would encourage him and anyone like me to come out and say they did it. The door is still open for him to come out and tell us what happened. Sonnen also commented on the Brazilian's only statement to date, in which he said he will prove his innocence and that he believes he was the target of an error by the analysis laboratory. According to the North American, it will be difficult to hold the laboratory responsible and reverse the result, which could make all efforts in vain. “He may also have it in his mind that he didn’t do it. We'll let him work on it. I was not there. I can say that the laboratory involved in this responds to one person, which is Senator John McCain (former US presidential candidate for the Republican Party). This is a laboratory founded by the United States government. If anyone says this lab was wrong, they will defend themselves vigorously. It’s not worth the fight,” he analyzed.

The loudmouth also raised the possibility that the Brazilian had used the substances as part of his treatment after breaking his leg. Sonnen, however, despite understanding this situation, believes that Anderson could never have returned to the octagon under these circumstances. “Anderson Silva was in the ring and suffered an open fracture. (…) He has an obligation to himself to improve, no matter what he needs to do. Use science. I don't care if it was from the free market or the black market, he needed to heal his leg. All good. If he wants to come back and compete, which he has decided to do, he has to operate within the rules. For now, it appears he has tested positive for banned substances. If he needed help with his leg, good for him, just that doesn't mean he can return to the sport. If he returned to the sport and did not reveal this, he will have to suffer the consequences and will have to deal with it”, he concluded.
