Since TJ Dillashaw surprised the MMA world and won Renan Barao in a dominant way to win the bantamweight belt in May last year, a rematch between the North American and the Brazilian has been one of the most anticipated fights in the 61,2 kg category. With the rematch against Barão scheduled for UFC 186 in April, Dillashaw knows this, but at the same time hopes for an end to his story with the former champion once and for all.

“I'm tired of hearing his name (Baron) and I feel like I'm his kryptonite (mineral that, in comic books, has the power to weaken Superman). I'm going to destroy him in this new fight”, said Dillashaw, in an interview with the podcast “The MMA Hour”, promising some news for his second meeting with the Brazilian. “I know what Barão is going to do and I have been training for him for a long time. I will continue where I left off and I will surprise you. I'm going to show you some things I added to my game and I plan to finish it much faster than I did last time. I’m going to put this guy behind me once and for all,” he added.

Furthermore, TJ also highlighted that the duel against Barão makes a lot of sense, due to the public's interest and the history between them, but he also regretted having trained to face the same opponent in his last three fights. “I feel like this is still a very marketable fight based on how good he was as a champion and fighter over the last decade. I think this is the fight everyone wants to see. As it didn't happen in Sacramento (in August last year, when the fight was suspended at the last minute due to problems with the Brazilian's weight cut), there is even more expectation for this duel now. It's pretty annoying that the last three training camps I've had were to face the Renan Barao, to prepare for the same guy, but that is also a blessing”, he commented.

At 28, TJ Dillashaw has a professional record of eleven wins and two losses. Runner-up of The Ultimate Fighter 14, Dillashaw won the bantamweight belt in May 2014 and has defended it once since then, with a fifth-round knockout of Joe Soto. On April 25th, in Montreal (Canada), Dillashaw will once again face the Brazilian Renan Barao, from whom he took the title about a year ago. The duel is the main fight of UFC 186.
