This Wednesday (07), Glover Teixeira was removed from the main fight of UFC Porto Alegre, which takes place on February 22, after presenting new complications from an old knee injury. After the fight was cut, Glover gave details of the injury that took him out of action, saying he hopes to return to the octagon in the first half of 2015 and against the same opponent he would face on the Rio Grande do Sul card: the former light heavyweight champion Rashad evans.

“I'm training, but my knee isn't 100%. I felt a lot of pain when trying to train jiu-jitsu and wrestling. I can train in boxing or kickboxing, but I can't do grappling. My knee is still weak, so the doctor said I could have another serious injury”, said the Brazilian to the North American website “MMA Fighting”. “April would be perfect (to return). I like this fight against Rashad evans, it would be a great fight for us and the fans. He's a wrestler, but not one of those who embraces and does nothing. He comes to fight. He doesn't do boring fights, so I'd like to fight him when I get back,” he added.
At 35, Glover Teixeira has a professional record of 22 wins and four losses. After boasting one of the greatest unbeaten records in MMA, remaining unbeatable for nine years, the Minas Gerais native from Sobrália ended up defeated by Jon Jones in the light heavyweight title fight in April last year. The Brazilian's situation became even more complicated with the second consecutive setback, against Phil Davis, at UFC Rio 5, in October. Now, Glover occupies sixth place in the 93 kg division rankings.
